How to Get Pregnant Fast: 8 Tips for Quick Pregnancy

Getting pregnant is the ultimate dream for many women. We usually expect it to be an easy process, maybe even happen the first month we are trying. In reality, this isn’t always the case. Sometimes, we can feel as if we are trying and trying and nothing happens. Don’t despair! There are some useful tips to getting pregnant quick. Read on for some wonderful advice on how to get pregnant fast and start the family you dream of.

1) Stop taking the pill 2 – 3 months in advance.

If you know you are going to be trying soon, don’t continue taking your birth control pills. You need to give your body some time, as it may take a short while for your body to go back to its original state of fertility. Stop taking your pill as soon as you decide you want to become a parent.

2) Start tracking your ovulation.

Think back to your high school health class. Remember learning all about fertility, and how getting pregnant was determined upon when a woman was ovulation? Well, now is the time to put that information to good use. In a perfect world, we would all have a 28-day cycle and ovulate on day 14, however, this is rarely the case. You can find ovulation tests at your drugstore. Track your ovulation and get to know your cycle, and time intercourse accordingly.

3) Have intercourse prior to ovulation.

Women have a “fertile window of time”, which is a few days before ovulation to a few days after. If you are following step #2, don’t wait until the day of ovulation to have sex. Sperm can live inside the body for 3-5 days or possibly longer, so a pregnancy can result from sex before ovulation. An egg lives for 12-48 hours. Determine the most fertile week of your cycle. Most ovulation tests will let you know a few days prior to ovulation, so have sex approximately every other day during this time to maximize your chances.

4) Ensure healthy sperm.

Your partner can take steps to help with a quick conception as well! Make sure he stops tobacco and alcohol use. He should be taking a multivitamin as well. These steps will create a healthy sperm specimen, which is key to conception.

5) Stop using lube.

While you might not have given this much thought in the past, lube can slow down sperm mobility. It’s best to put the lube away when trying to conceive.

6.) Relax, relax, relax!

Probably the most important step you can take is to relax! Stress can negatively affect your chances of conception. The best thing that you and your partner can do is to relax and let nature take its course.

7) Be as healthy as you can.

While you don’t have to take it to an extreme, do adopt a healthy lifestyle. You don’t have to skip the cake at your friends birthday party, count every single calorie you consume, but do your best to stay away from caffeine, sugar, fatty foods, salt. Just like your partner, skip the tobacco and alcohol. Reach for fruits and vegetables for snacks and be sure to get enough water each day.

8) Know when to see a doctor.

If you’ve been trying to conceive for at least 6 months to a year with no luck, it may be time to speak with your doctor. He or she can provide you with the best information on how to proceed, and possibly refer you to a fertility specialist who can further help.

Getting pregnant is one of the most exciting times of your life! The above tips can help you to maximize your chances. Plan accordingly, and don’t be afraid to ask for help if it is taking too long! Good luck on this exciting journey!
